Programs
Offered at the Saugus Public Library
Hello Saugus patrons! We hope all of you are enjoying the great
weather
we've been having lately! First, we have important updates for all of
you
regarding our schedule: we will be closed THIS Saturday, May 3rd due to
a
staffing shortage; and on Saturday, May 24th because of Memorial Day.
Now down to business. We have a few outstanding programs coming up for
adults and children!
The Friends of the Saugus Public Library are hosting a Walk for
Literacy on June 7th at 10:00am at Breakheart Reservation to support the
Library! Louise Rossetti will lead the walk, and all walkers are asked
to
donate $10 (individual) or $25 (family). Each registered walker will get
a t-shirt, and there will be a bake sale with lots of goodies to help
you
keep up your strength! Come out and support the Library by walking for
literacy! To sign-up, drop-in for a pre-registration form at the
Library!
Finally, please know that we really appreciate all of your support and
we
want to remind you of everything we offer you in return!
*Adult computer classes: groups of four people can take part in 3
different sessions designed to jumpstart your computer skills (sign-ups
start again in August)!
*Free computer and internet access: we have 13 public computers; plus
we're a wi-fi hotspot (so you can plug into the Internet at the Library
with your own laptop)!
*Free adult programs: the most recent was an informative talk about
identity theft!
*Free children programs: the most recent was a pajama story time in
honor
of Earth and Arbor Day!
*Our homework center: ten laptop computers available for Saugus students
with a library card, Monday through Wednesday from 3-5pm!
*Online databases: these give you free online access to books, journal
and magazine articles about a variety of topics (academic and popular),
newspapers, and health information.
*Pace Center for Genealogy Research: local history information about
Saugus, as well as genealogy resources to get you started on finding the
beginning of your family tree!
*Meeting and study rooms: the Library has 2 different sized meeting
rooms, as well as quiet study rooms for the public's use.
*And, last but not least, the standards: reading material such as, books
(including large print), magazines (adult, young adult and children's)
and newspapers; as well as DVDs, VHS movies, CDs and audio books!
Thanks for reading, and don't forget to come and see us as the days get
longer and hotter!
